Frideswide Ensemble

The Frideswide Ensemble consists of Megan Baddeley, the guitarist and early musician Iván García and the electronic musician Jason Ullah.

They reached the final of the Hugo 2022 International Competition for New Concert Formats in Feldkirch, Austria with their programme "Nebelländer", inspired by Arthur Conan Doyle and his interest in spiritualism.

They are currently working on a new programme, "Falada: érase un sonido", which uses the Grimms' fairytale Die Gänsemagd  (The Goose Girl) to look at the experience of migration, particularly in terms of the colonial history of Colombia.

This programme was presented in various schools and universities in Colombia in summer 2023, with the support of the Goethe Institut and the Staatliche Hochschule für Musik Trossingen.  You can read the final report on the project (in German) here.

The ensemble are pleased to announce that they will be reprising "Falada: érase un sonido" in July 2024 at the Heinrich-Böll-Stiftung in Berlin.
